The Israeli govt. publishes a list of 26 Palestinian prisoners to be freed in the 1st stage of a planned release of 104 total prisoners in the context of renewed negotiations. Fourteen of the 26 will be deported or sent to the Gaza Strip, and 12 to the West Bank, with most having been jailed between 1985 and 1994. Meanwhile, Israel approves nearly 1,200 more settlement homes in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, an announcement that prompts Palestinian negotiator Mohammed Shtayyeh to accuse Israel of trying to destroy the viability of a two-state solution.
