The IDF ends operations nr. Bayt Lahiya begun on 7/31, withdrawing troops into an abandoned settlement site on the n. Gaza border; sends tanks and bulldozer, supported by helicopters, into the Rafah airport area to level land (Islamic Jihad mbrs. fire a mortar at troops, causing no injuries).
