IDF troops shoot and kill a Palestinian youth at a checkpoint nr. Nablus after he allegedly attempts to stab 1 of them. No Israelis are injured. Elsewhere in the West Bank, IDF troops arrest a Palestinian while he is leaving Birzeit village nr. Ramallah, arrest 2 Palestinians during late-night raids nr. Ramallah and Bethlehem, and patrol nr. Nablus and Hebron during the day. Israeli forces raze Palestinian land in Umm al-Khayr to make room for a new sewage line serving a nearby settlement. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces block the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) from hosting a cultural event. In response to pressure from the High Court of Justice, Israel’s security cabinet decides to stop returning the corpses of Hamas-affiliated Palestinians who carry out serious attacks against Israelis to their families. They condone the return of other Palestinian assailants’ corpses, however. The IDF still supports returning the corpses in general, while DM Lieberman supports withholding them as a deterrent.
