In Sarvestan, Iran, 150 Iranians clash with riot police for the 3d day in protest of the annulment by the Guardian Council, comprised of conservatives led by Ayatollah Khamenei, of a reform candidate's election in the 1st round of the parliamentary race on 2/18. Since 2/18, the council, which holds ultimate political authority, has nullified the election of several candidates aligned with reform-minded Pres. Khatami, apparently to rein in the reform movement in advance of run-off elections on 5/5. (WP 4/22)
