In Gaza, Israeli forces conduct a limited incursion along the border fence nr. Khan Yunis to level lands and perform “routine maintenance,” according to the IDF. In the West Bank, the IDF conducts late-night raids and house searches in Hebron, Jenin, and 1 village nr. Qalqilya, arresting 3 Palestinians and issuing an arrest summons to another; patrols in 2 villages nr. Hebron. At the annual Herzliya Conference, Israeli PM Netanyahu calls on the Palestinians to return to peace negotiations with Israel “without preconditions,” and he says that he will not require them to recognize Israel as a Jewish state as a precondition, though he would require it in a final deal. Senior Hamas officials confirm a recent meeting with Egyptian intelligence officers to discuss their poor relations. Hamas reportedly pushed for Egypt to reopen the Rafah border crossing and the Egyptians pushed for several undisclosed “confidence-building” measures, some of which Hamas agreed to. (HA 6/10)
