In Qalandiya camp Israeli soldiers smash doors, windows and overturn cars after their bus is stoned; UNRWA sources state that "well over 20 houses" were damaged [LAT 11/24].

A 3-day strike protesting Shultz' visit to the Middle East enters its 2nd day in the occupied territories [WP 6/5].

Arab World: Sec. of State Shultz and King Hussein meet in Amman to discuss U.S. Middle East peace plan. Hussein wants assurances that settlement will be based on "land for peace" formula [WP 6/5].

Occupied Palestine/Israel: In Nusayrat camp 35 Palestinians are injured during clashes with Israeli troops [FJ 6/12].

Occupied Palestine/Israel: Israeli High Court delays deportation of Palestinian activist Mubarak 'Awad pending his appeal hearing. Reports indicate 'Awad has been on hunger strike since his arrest 5/5 [WP 5/9]. Authorities begin cutting off electricity to Palestinian villages which have not paid their bills; water is cut off in Attil village near Tulkarm and Nablus-area villages of Bidiya and Yutma [FJ 5/15].

Occupied Palestine/Israel: Army imposes curfews in Jabalya camp and 'Abasan village in Gaza Strip following protests. Demonstrators throw stones in Ramallah and Jenin [FJ 5/15].

Occupied Palestine/Israel: Israeli army reports 15-year-old Israeli killed 4/6 died when bullet from M-16 rifle carried by Israeli guard struck her in head. Investigation has also shown guard, who was banned by army from Nablus, killed 1 Palestinian and wounded another before Israeli group reached Bayta village. Some villagers reacted to news of killing by attacking the Israelis with stones. Guard was wounded by rock thrown at head. Villagers took guards' guns and broke them. Other Palestinians tried to hide Israeli youths. Soldiers later broke into Bayta hospital, beating patients in search for those suspected of involvement in clash [NYT 4/9].

Arab World: Sec. of State Shultz leaves Amman, travels to Cyprus for brief meeting with Lebanese pres. Amin Jumayyil before ending 6-day Middle East visit [NYT 4/9].

In Zayat, in Tulkarm district, soldiers use live ammunition to disperse protesters, injuring 8. Curfews are in force in 6 W. Bank villages and cities as well as Qabatiyyah and Jenin camp. Balatah is under curfew for 14th consecutive day. Dayr Ghassana and Bayt Rima villages, near Ramallah, are among 6 sealed villages. Soldiers raid Sura village, near Nablus, and uproot olive trees. Arab World: In Israel's S. Lebanon security zone, Israeli soldiers kill 2 Palestinian commandos attempting to cross border. Palestine Liberation Front claims responsibility [WP 4/6].

Occupied Palestine/Israel: Dozens of Palestinian activitists are reported arrested [WP 3/21]. In interview with Radio Israel, Yossi Ben Aharon, aide to P.M. Shamir, says "possibility always exists" that Israel might strike Saudi Arabian missile sites [WP 3/23]. Two Palestinians die of wounds sustained in earlier clashes: Silwad village resident injured 3/14 and Nazlat 'Isa resident injured 3/16 [FJ 3/27]. Authorities also demolish 3 houses in Silat al-Harthiyyah village whose owners firebombed an Israeli patrol. Jewish settler whose van is halted by road block in W. Bank village of Mazra'ah al-Sharqiyyah opens fire, killing Palestinian bystander [WP 3/28].

Arab World: Fateh claims responsibility for Negev desert hijacking [WP 3/8]. PLO officials Khalil al-Wazir (Abu Jihad) and 'Abd al-Rahim Ahmad arrive in Amman for meetings of Palestinian-Jordanian Joint Com. [FJ 3/13].
