In the West Bank, some 32,000 Israeli settlers raided Hebron, chanting racist slogans, vandalizing property, including 2 mosques, assaulting Palestinians with pepper spray, and injuring 1 Palestinian minor with a stone to her head. Israeli forces had forced Palestinians to close their shops in Hebron in preparation for the settler march. 2 Israeli settlers, including 1 off duty soldier, were arrested on 11/20 for attacking 1 Israeli soldier during the march. Israeli settlers also stole 6 cows from Palestinians in the northern part of the Jordan Valley. Israeli forces shot and injured 1 Palestinian with live ammunition during a late-night raid in Nablus. The Israeli defense ministry sent a letter to the lawyers representing 6 Palestinian rights organizations placed on the Israeli terrorism list, telling them they would need to get official permission to represent the organizations or face up to 7 years in prison. Chief of staff of the Israeli armed forces Aviv Kochavi visited Morocco for meetings with Moroccan defense officials. 21 Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives led by Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) wrote a letter to secretary of state Antony Blinken and director of national intelligence Avril Haines, expressing concern over Israel’s decision to label 6 Palestinian rights organizations terrorist organizations without producing any credible evidence to support the claim. EU foreign ministers agreed to restart the EU-Israel Association Council set up in 1995 but suspended in 2012 due to Israel’s settlement policy. Haaretz reported that Israeli police downgraded the charge against the Israeli settler who stabbed 1 Palestinian to death on 6/21 from murder to reckless homicide, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years. (HA 7/5)

PA president Mahmoud Abbas and political chief of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh met in Algiers at a meeting hosted by Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The 2 leaders were in Algeria for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Algeria’s independence. Aside from a picture of the 2 shaking hands, there was no information about what was discussed during the meeting, which was the 1st between the 2 since 2016 during reconciliation efforts in Doha. Ben & Jerry’s sued its parent company Unilever to block the sale of Ben & Jerry’s business interests in Israel to the Israeli company American Quality Products. In the West Bank, Israeli forces demolished 1 mobile home, water tanks, and tree saplings in az-Za‘ayyem, and 1 agricultural structure in Nahalin. Israeli forces also handed 1 demolition notice against 1 house, stop-work orders against 13 structures in Deir Balut, and 3 stop-work orders against homes in al-Twana in the Masafer Yatta area. 11 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Jaba‘, Silat al-Harithiyya, al-Yamun, ad-Doha, and Hebron. Hamas released a video of 1 Israeli citizen held prisoner in Gaza, Hisham al-Sayid, who they say is in deteriorating health.
