In the West Bank, settlers with military protection toured Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus, leading to a confrontation with Palestinians protesting the incursion; 3 Israelis were shot and injured by Palestinian gunmen, including 1 soldier, and Israeli forces shot and injured 1 Palestinian using live ammunition, 16 others with baton rounds, and 40 were injured with tear gas. Israeli settlers also set fire to Palestinian-owned land planted with grapes and olives in Husan and uprooted some 200 cucumber saplings in Halhul. Israeli forces rammed a motorcycle carrying 2 Palestinians with their car in al-Khader, injuring both. Israeli forces also delivered stop-work notices for 2 houses and 1 agricultural structure in Ma‘in in the Masafer Yatta area. 12 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Ni‘lin, al-Am‘ari refugee camp, Qarawat Bani Hassan, Anabta, Arrabah, Aida refugee camp, and al-Arroub refugee camp. In East Jerusalem, 2 Waqf guards were arrested at the Haram al-Sharif compound; 1 of them was later barred from entering the compound for 1 week. 2 others were arrested at the Bab al-Rahma area of the Haram al-Sharif compound and in Silwan. PA president Mahmoud Abbas spoke to U.S. secretary of state Antony Blinken in a phone call. According to a statement by the PA, the 2 spoke about preparations for president Joe Biden’s upcoming trip to Palestine and Israel later this month. The EU sent a letter to Al Haq and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), informing the Palestinian rights organizations that it will reinstate EU funding that was cut after Israel alleged that Al Haq had financial ties to the PFLP. According to the IDF, the slain Palestinian allegedly stabbed and lightly injured 1 of the soldiers in the ensuing confrontation. However, photos of the scene show the Palestinian, still alive, sitting in the army vehicle, where he would not have presented a threat to the soldiers. His cousin says he did not attempt to stab anyone, adding that he was engaged to be married in 2 mos. Elsewhere in the West Bank, IDF troops arrest a Palestinian in c. Hebron when she is found to be carrying a knife, and conduct late-night raids nr. Ramallah and Bethlehem, arresting 9 Palestinians. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces return the body of a Palestinian to his family, who hold a small funeral for him in a nearby cemetery. Israeli forces killed him on 3/9 after he and a companion opened fire on an Israeli bus. Overnight, Israeli forces demolish 3 residential structures and a cultural center in a village nr. Hebron. Israeli settlers dump untreated sewage in Palestinian olive groves and grape arbors nr. Bethlehem. Along Gaza’s border, Israeli forces conduct a limited incursion to level land nr. In Syria’s Yarmuk r.c. near Damascus, 10,000s of angry Palestinian mourners at the funerals for some of those killed in the Naksa Day clashes on 6/5 attack the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine—General Command (PFLP-GC) headquarters and drive away Hamas leader Khalid Mishal and the PFLP-GC head Ahmad Jibril, who had come to express condolences, denouncing camp leaders for inciting the camp youths and putting them in harm’s way to be used as “cannon fodder” against Israel.
