In the Gaza Strip, IDF troops shoot and kill a Palestinian close to the perimeter fence nr. Khan Yunis. The IDF says that the individual ignored warnings to leave a military-designated “no go” area. Severe flooding from heavy rains affects large areas of the Gaza Strip, with UNRWA spokesperson Chris Gunness calling the impacted regions a “disaster area.” There are 96 reported injuries in flood-related incidents, according to the Health Ministry. In response, Israel announces that it will permit the import of 450,000 litres of industrial fuel into the Gaza Strip to restart the power plant that shut down 7 weeks ago. (AP, MNA 12/14)
