In the West Bank, Israeli forces raid the Tulkarm area, shooting and killing 2 Palestinians and injuring 8 others in Tulkarm, opening fire at Red Crescent medics, arresting 2 medics, bulldozing streets in Nur Shams refugee camp, and demolishing a warehouse with explosives in Aktaba. Israeli forces also assault a Palestinian man near al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya. Elsewhere, Israeli forces demolish a home and a water well in Yatta. Israeli forces also take measurements for 2 punitive demolitions in Nablus. Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrest 14 Palestinians during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus, and Ramallah. In Gaza, Israeli forces bomb Mawasi, Rafah, Gaza City, Nuseirat refugee camp, al-Bureij refugee camp, and Jabalia refugee camp, killing at least 32 people. At least 40 Palestinians are reportedly killed at night in a “safe zone” tent camp in Mawasi where the bombing created craters up to 30 feet deep. An Al Jazeera Investigation shows that Israel used U.S.-made MK-84 2,000-pound bombs in the attack. In Lebanon, Israeli forces assassinate Hezbollah member Muhammad Qassem al-Shaer in an airstrike in the Bekaa Valley. Israeli forces also bomb Jwaya, Nabatieh, al-Mansouri, and Kafr Kila. More than 41,020 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including at least 16,456 children and 11,088 women, and around 94,925 have been injured since 10/7/2023. At least 10,000 people are missing in rubble. 684 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 149 children. More than 5,420 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 have been injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. In addition, 340 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 2,271 injured in Gaza since the ground invasion began on 10/27/2023. Over 1.93 million Palestinians, nearly 85% of the population of Gaza, have been displaced since 10/7/2023. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12/2023 due to the Israeli blockade. The Karami Crossing (Allenby Bridge) reopens for movement of people but remains closed for commercial traffic. The crossing was closed by Israel on 9/8 after a Jordanian man shot and killed 3 Israeli security guards. (AJ, WAFA 9/10)

In the UN General Assembly, PA ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour is seated among UN member states for the first time after the PA’s “rights and privileges” were expended in a General Assembly resolution in May. (HA 9/11)

The UN, Norway, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia condemn the Israeli attack on the Mawasi tent camp. UK foreign secretary David Lammy calls the number of deaths “shocking.” The PA says the international community’s failure to implement international law enabled Israel to carry out the attack. Hamas says the official death toll is 19 because that is the number of bodies brought to hospitals that have been identified while 22 others have yet to be identified. The Arab League convenes for a meeting in Cairo. EU high commissioner for foreign affairs Josep Borrell, who is invited to address the meeting, says that “without action of the international community, the West Bank will become a new Gaza.” (AJ, WAFA 9/10)

U.S. president Joe Biden says Israel’s killing of U.S. citizen Aysenur Ezgi Eygi on 9/6 was an accident and that she was killed by a bullet that ricocheted off the ground, parroting an Israeli claim but contradicting numerous eyewitnesses. Before Biden’s comments, Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the incident is unacceptable, calling the killing “unprovoked and unjustified” and saying that “Israeli security forces need to make some fundamental changes in the way they operate in the West Bank.” The Defense Department says Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed “grave concern” to Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant over the killing and urged Gallant to reexamine the Israeli military’s rules of engagement in the West Bank. At the presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump, Harris says “Israel has a right to defend itself” but that too many Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, adding “this war must end.” Harris also says that she “will always give Israel the ability to defend itself, in particular, as it relates to Iran and any threat that Iran and its proxies pose to Israel.” Trump says Harris hates Israel and hates “the Arab population,” saying he believes that Israel would not exist within 2 years if she became president. Canada suspends 30 permits for arms shipments to Israel. Canadian foreign minister Melanie Joly says “[o]ur policy is clear: We will not have any form of arms or parts of arms be sent to Gaza.” (AJ 9/10)
