In the West Bank, Israeli settlers assault a Palestinian man and vandalize his vehicle during a raid in al-‘Awja. Israeli settlers also throw stones at Palestinian vehicles traveling near Ein Yabrud. Israeli forces shoot and injure 2 Palestinians during a raid in al-Arroub refugee camp. Israeli forces also assault a Palestinian man at a checkpoint in Tayasir. Elsewhere, Israeli forces raid Qalqilya, destroying a food warehouse. Israeli forces also raid al-Khader, Balata refugee camp, Idhna, Beita, and Yatma, causing tear-gas related injuries. In Gaza, Israeli forces bomb Gaza City, Dayr al-Balah, Rafah, Jabalia refugee camp, and Khan Yunis, killing at least 20 people. In Lebanon, Israeli forces bomb 6 residential towers in the Dahieh neighborhood of Beirut, assassinating Hezbollah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah, senior commander Ali Karaki, and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps brigadier general Abbas Nilforoushan. Estimates suggest over 300 people are killed in the attack although the scale of the destructions makes an accurate count unclear. The Israeli military reportedly uses 85 GBU-72 5,000 pound “bunker busters” in the airstrikes. Afterwards, Israeli forces order the evacuation of parts of the Hadath and Laylaki neighborhoods. Elsewhere, Israeli forces also bomb Shebaa, Baalbek, Tyre, Nabi Ayla, Sidon, and Nabatieh. The death toll from Israel's attacks since Monday is more than 700 people, including at least 50 children in the past 2 days, according to the Lebanese health ministry. Hezbollah forces fire rockets at Kiryat Ata, Kfar Hittim, Karmiel, Sa'ar, Ilaniya, Tiberias, and Safad, injuring one man. In Syria, Israeli forces bomb Kfeir Yabous, killing 5 Syrian soldiers. In Yemen, Houthi forces say they attacked Tel Aviv and 3 U.S. naval ships with missiles and drones. More than 41,554 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including at least 16,456 children and 11,088 women, and around 96,092 have been injured since 10/7/2023. At least 10,000 people are missing in rubble. 708 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 151 children. More than 5,420 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 have been injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. In addition, 346 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 2,297 injured in Gaza since the ground invasion began on 10/27/2023. Over 1.93 million Palestinians, nearly 85% of the population of Gaza, have been displaced since 10/7/2023. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12/2023 due to the Israeli blockade. At the UN Security Council, PA prime minister Mohammad Mustafa says Israel is a “rouge state because they are convinced that they are above the law and they are entitled to things that other countries are not entitled to,” adding they have “invaded cities in the West Bank. They have attacked unarmed Palestinian citizens, and today we see them firing on the Lebanese people.” Mustafa also charges the Security Council with holding “inhumane double standards” when it comes to Israel and Palestine. UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres says “[w]e cannot afford endless negotiations, as we have on Gaza, we must avoid the regional war at all costs. Gaza remains the epicenter of the violence and Gaza is the key to ending it.” Mustafa also speaks at a meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee on the sidelines of the General Assembly, expressing concern over the Palestinian economy, which has contracted by 35% during the first quarter of 2024 due to Israeli actions. Additionally, Mustafa meets with Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan, signing a joint declaration to establish diplomatic relations between Palestine and Armenia. At the UN General Assembly, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that Israel will continue its war on Gaza until “total victory,” calls the UN “a swamp of anti-Semitism,” and threatens Iran. As Netanyahu is about to take the podium there is a mass walkout from the room and several boos. U.S. ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield tells MSNBC that she agrees with Netanyahu that the UN has an “unfair focus on Israel.” Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian calls the Israeli attacks on Beirut “a clear and undeniable war crime,” describing it as a continuation of Israeli “state-sponsored terrorism.” (AJ, AJ, AP, HA, HA, REU 9/27; AP, AP 9/28)

Hamas calls on Arab nations to intervene and stop the Israeli attacks on Gaza and Lebanon. The New York Times reports that Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei convenes an emergency meeting of the Supreme National Security Council at his home after the assassination of Secretary-General Nasrallah. U.S. president Joe Biden claims that the U.S. had “no knowledge of or participation in” the Israeli airstrikes on Beirut and directs the Defense Department to “assess and adjust as necessary the U.S. force posture” in the Middle East. Jordanian foreign minister Ayman Safadi, speaking on behalf of the Muslim-Arab committee at the UN, says “I can tell you very unequivocally, all of us are willing to guarantee the security of Israel in the context of Israel ending the occupation and allowing for the emergence of a Palestinian state.” Safadi says Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is creating “danger because he simply does not want the 2-state solution,” asking what the Israeli “end-game” is. 10 global trade unions file a complaint against Israel with the International Labour Organization, saying that Israel's treatment of Palestinian workers since 10/7/2023 is in breach of the 1949 Protection of Wages Convention.
