In the West Bank, Israeli settlers attack a group of Palestinian herders in the Rujum Ali area of Masafer Yatta, injuring several, including 1 who is hospitalized. Israeli settlers also raid a Palestinian home and set fire to a vehicle in Qira. Israeli forces shoot and injure a Palestinian man during a raid in ‘Askar refugee camp. Israeli forces also violently disperse Palestinians using tear gas during a raid in Qaryut. Elsewhere, Israeli forces raid al-Bireh, assaulting and injuring 3 Palestinians. Israeli forces also demolish 3 homes, displacing 15 people, in al-Rihiya. Meanwhile, Israeli forces demolish a home in Shufa. Israeli forces also continue raids in Tulkarm, Tulkarm refugee camp, and Nur Shams refugee camp for the 73rd day in a row, punitively demolishing a home. Separately, Israeli forces continue raids in Jenin and Jenin refugee camp for the 79th day in a row. Israeli forces also arrest 15 Palestinians during late-night raids. In East Jerusalem, Israeli settlers tour the Haram al-Sharif compound. Israeli forces shoot and injure a Palestinian child with a baton round during a raid in Shu’fat refugee camp. In Gaza, Israeli forces bomb Gaza City, Jabalia refugee camp, Khan Yunis, Rafah, Dayr al-Balah, and Beit Lahiya, killing at least 29 Palestinians. More than 50,887 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including at least 17,881 children and 12,749 women, and around 115,875 have been injured since 10/7/2023. In addition, 14,222 Palestinians who have been missing are presumed dead. 944 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 189 children. More than 6,500 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. In addition, 408 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 2,584 injured in Gaza since the ground invasion began on 10/27/2023. Over 1.93 million Palestinians, nearly 85% of the population of Gaza, have been displaced since 10/7/2023. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12/2023 due to the Israeli blockade. 92% of all housing units in Gaza have been destroyed or severely damaged since 10/7/2023. Israel releases 80 Palestinians abducted from Gaza back to Gaza, 10 of them are hospitalized. The Gaza Health Ministry says the medicine stocks in Gaza are depleted, with 37% of essential drugs, 59% of medical supplies, and 54% of cancer and blood disease medications out of stock. Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Manasra is released from the Nafha Prison. Manasra was 13-years old when he was arrested for being with his cousin Hassan who allegedly stabbed 2 Israeli settlers in East Jerusalem in 2015. The New York Times reports that then U.S. envoy for hostage affairs Adam Boehler, in direct talks with Hamas in Qatar in March, proposed exchanging 1 living and 4 dead captives, all with American citizenship, for 250 Palestinian prisoners. The talks, taking place over 3 meetings, were not coordinated with Israel and U.S. official believe that Israel leaked the meetings to the press to sabotage them after finding out. The proposed deal did not materialize as Hamas did not accept the short deadline for formally responding. Hamas reportedly expressed its willingness to lay down arms for 5-10 years and desire for the people convicted in the Holy Land Foundation case to be released. (HA, NYT 4/10)
