Israeli defense minister Israel Katz says in a tweet that every morning in Damascus Syrian president Ahmed al-Sharaa “will see that the Israeli army is watching him from the peaks of Mount Hermon.” Haaretz reports that the Israeli government has ordered the military to prevent Syrian forces from entering Syrian areas within 15 miles of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and prevent long-range weapons from being deployed within 40 miles of the Golan, including all the way to southern Damascus.
