In the West Bank, Israeli forces arrested 8 Palestinians during late-night raids in and around Nablus, Hebron, and Tulkarm. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces arrested 8 Palestinians during late-night raids. In Gaza, Israel shelled several locations for the 2d day in a row, leading to the death of 10 Palestinians and an unborn child. 22 Palestinians were reported wounded and several buildings were completely destroyed and others damaged, including the office of the Turkish news agency Anadolu. Israeli forces said it had attacked 30 targets in Gaza. They also said that 250 rockets had been launched from Gaza into Israel. 1 Israeli man was killed in Ashqelon by a rocket from Gaza; 3 other Israelis were wounded. The EU called for an immediate de-escalation of the violence in Gaza and supported UN and Egyptian mediation to calm the situation. The PA called on the UN to intervene and halt the Israeli offensive in Gaza. (AJ, WAFA 5/4)
