Israeli forces also punitively demolish the family home in Idhna of a Palestinian man killed by Israeli forces in Tarqumiyah on 9/1. Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrest 18 Palestinians during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Qalqilya, Tubas, and Ramallah. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces shoot and kill a Palestinian man in ‘Anata, claiming he was speeding toward soldiers. Israeli forces also raid the Church of the Pater Noster on the Mount of Olives, detaining 2 French officials with diplomatic status. The site is considered French territory under international law. In Gaza, Israeli forces bomb Gaza City, Beit Lahiya, Jabalia refugee camp, Nuseirat refugee camp, Rafah, and Shati’ refugee camp, killing dozens of Palestinians, including 12 at a school in Shati’ refugee camp. The Gaza Health Ministry says 78 Palestinians have been killed in the past 2 days. Israeli forces also order the evacuation of Shati’ refugee camp. In Lebanon, Israeli forces bomb Beirut, Sidon, Mount Lebanon, and many other towns and villages, killing at least 15 people. At least 10,000 people are missing in rubble. 780 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 168 children. More than 6,500 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 have been injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12/2023 due to the Israeli blockade. 87% of all housing units in Gaza have been destroyed or severely damaged since 10/7/2023. PA president Mahmoud Abbas meets with French foreign minister Jean-Noel Barrot in Ramallah. After the meeting, Barrot tells the press that France is considering new sanctions on settlers and pro-settlement entities. Barrot cancels a visit to the Church of the Pater Noster in East Jerusalem after Israeli forces detain 2 French officials (see above), saying he will not enter it while Israeli forces are present and that the incident undermines “the ties I had come to nurture with Israel.” The French foreign ministry also says it will summon the Israeli ambassador.
