In the West Bank, Israeli settlers throw stones at a Palestinian home in central Hebron and at Palestinian Bedouin homes in nearby Umm al-Khayr, causing no serious damage. They also steal olives from 420 trees outside Awarta village near Nablus. IDF troops assault Palestinian farmers harvesting olives outside the nearby Eli settlement, causing no serious injuries. They also assault a Palestinian during an arrest raid in Hebron and arrest 2 Palestinians during a raid near Bethlehem. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces arrest 1 Palestinian at an entrance to Haram al-Sharif and 2 professors preparing to hold a panel discussion on their new book in the Old City. One day after being wounded in an alleged assassination attempt, senior Hamas military leader Abu Naim alleges that the attack was a politically motivated effort to undermine the ongoing Palestinian national reconciliation process. “The objectives of those who committed this despicable act will not be achieved,” he says.
