In Sharm al-Shaykh, Egypt, Rice attends a high-level Quartet mtg. to discuss ways of keeping the process alive during the Israeli and U.S. government transitions. Abbas, Livni brief the Quartet on their talks since the 11/07 Annapolis summit, pledge to continue negotiations despite the political uncertainty in Israel, and reaffirm that “nothing would be considered agreed until everything is agreed.” The Quartet reiterates its support for continued negotations, praises the PA’s security reforms, and urges the international community to fulfill aid pledges to the PA to ease the economic crisis in the territories.
