Wreckage of Arafat's plane is located in the Libyan desert by a PLO patrol some 12 hours after it crashed. Arafat is flown to a hospital in Misrata, Libya for treatment. Spontaneous celebrations break out throughout o.t. as news of Arafat's rescue spreads. Some celebrations turn violent as security forces clash with revelers in Ramallah, al-Bira, and Gaza City.
