Several family mbrs. of Palestinians killed in recent confrontations with the IDF publish an open letter on social media stating their refusal to the Israeli authorities’ offered terms for returning their relatives’ bodies. The Israeli authorities have reportedly demanded that the families agree to bury their relatives at night, immediately after they receive their bodies, to prevent mass funerals and further violence. The Israeli cabinet unanimously approves a NIS 15 b. (around $3.85 b.) plan for the social and economic development of the so-called Arab minority municipalities in Israel, specifically focusing on housing, transportation, education, and health. Protests against Israeli raids onto the campus have been ongoing since 11/15, disrupting classes and injuring many students. Home demolitions continue for a 2d day as 1,200 Israeli forces lockdown Shu‘fat r.c. in East Jerusalem and carry out the punitive demolition of the home of the Palestinian who was killed on 11/5/2014 after he drove his car into a Light Rail stop, killing an Israeli soldier and a settler. The demolition sparks clashes with stone-throwers in the camp and in nearby Anata r.c. in which 13 Palestinians are injured. Israeli forces also carry out the punitive demolition of the Nablus-area home of the Palestinian suspected of organizing the killing of 2 Israeli settlers on 10/1. Elsewhere in Nablus, IDF troops spark minor clashes with stone-throwers during a raid; there are no serious injuries. They also conduct late-night raids and house searches in Nablus and 2 nearby villages; Hebron and 3 nearby villages; Tulkarm and nearby Nur Shams r.c.; and 1 village nr. Stabbing and alleged stabbing attacks continue in the West Bank and Jerusalem, leading to the deaths of 2 Palestinians. First, IDF troops shoot and kill a Palestinian youth in the Gush Etzion settlement bloc nr. Bethlehem after he allegedly attempts to stab an Israeli settler (no Israelis are injured). E. of Tulkarm, an Israeli soldier shoots and kills a Palestinian at a checkpoint, claiming that she attempted to stab him. Finally, a Palestinian stabs and lightly injures an Israeli civilian in West Jerusalem. Israeli forces arrest 1 Palestinian woman each in Hebron, outside a settlement nr. Nablus, and s. of Bethlehem, claiming that the women are carrying knives. A video of the Bethlehem incident will show IDF troops forcing the Palestinian woman to pick up a knife prior to her arrest. Late at night, Israeli troops raid the Nablus-area home of the Palestinian woman accused of planning a stabbing attack outside a nearby settlement earlier in the day. Elsewhere in the oPt, IDF troops chase, shoot, and injure 3 Palestinian youths in Hebron, alleging that they were preparing to throw Molotov cocktails at an IDF post. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces kill 2 Palestinians in separate incidents. First, Israeli forces shoot and kill a Palestinian after he stabs and injures an Israeli police officer nr. the Damascus Gate to the Old City. Israeli forces then temporarily shut down all entrances to Nablus, home of the alleged attacker. In the evening, Israeli forces violently disperse Palestinians protesting the morning’s killing, in Ras al-Amud, firing at protesters with live ammunition. A 17-year-old Palestinian is shot and taken to a medical center in Silwan, where he succumbs to his injuries; Israeli forces raid the center in an attempt to retrieve the boy’s body and question the Palestinian medical staff. Also nr. Ras al-Amud, Israeli police arrest a Palestinian after he allegedly stabs and injures a Nepalese woman on a bus. Meanwhile in the West Bank, IDF troops violently clash with Palestinians protesting outside a settlement nr. Ramallah, in a village nr. Later, a Palestinian stabs and injures 4 Israelis in the same city. Several Jewish Israelis assault and detain him as he attempts to flee, including 1 Israeli driver who rams the man with his vehicle. An Israeli man attacks a Palestinian citizen of Israel in Netanya, lightly injuring him. In Kiryat Ata nr. Haifa, a Jewish Israeli stabs and moderately injures another Jewish Israeli, mistakenly identifying him as a Palestinian. Following the morning’s attacks, Israel’s security cabinet meets and decides not to return the bodies of Palestinians shot and killed by Israeli forces after carrying out attacks on Israeli citizens. Instead of returning the bodies to their families, they will bury them secretly. The cabinet also decides to revoke the residency status of Palestinian attackers, bar any homes punitively demolished from being rebuilt, and allow the police to “impose a closure on, or to surround, centers of friction and incitement in Jerusalem, in accordance with security considerations”.
