There are several incidents in the Hebron area today as Israeli forces raid a medical center, assaulting a 14-year-old Palestinian patient; deliver stop-work orders to 3 homes under construction e. of Bayt Umar; and remove the doors and windows from several residences and confiscate drilling equipment in a village nr. There are 2 major settler attacks today amid the ongoing wave of violence in the oPt. IDF troops shoot and kill a Palestinian at a checkpoint nr. Hebron after he allegedly stabs and seriously injures an Israeli soldier. Israeli settlers physically assault the Palestinian as he lies injured on the ground (he succumbs to his injuries later in the day). Israeli settlers assault several Palestinian farmers harvesting olives nr. Nablus, injuring 1 and sparking clashes with stone-throwing Palestinians. Israeli settlers also throw stones at Palestinian drivers nr. Nablus, causing damage. Meanwhile in the West Bank, IDF troops shoot and critically injure a Palestinian outside al-Ibrahimi Mosque in c. Hebron as he allegedly attempts to stab a soldier. The IDF also clashes with and violently disperse Palestinian protesters nr. Ramallah, Tulkarm, Jerusalem, and Hebron, injuring at least 19 and arresting 4. IDF troops conduct late-night raids in Jenin r.c. and 1 nearby village; they damage part of a house and arrest 2 Palestinians, sparking clashes with stone-throwers (25 Palestinians are injured). The IDF also conducts patrols and raids in more than 10 other areas across the West Bank, arresting 23 Palestinians and issuing arrest summons to 6. In Gaza, unknown persons launch a rocket into Israel. It lands in open area nr. the border fence, causing no damage or injuries. During clashes sparked by a raid in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiyya, Israeli forces shoot a 13-year-old Palestinian in the head with a rubber-coated bullet, seriously injuring him and arresting 7 Palestinians. Enforcing PM Netanyahu’s pledge to crack down on stone-throwers, Israeli forces arrest at least 20 Palestinians during night raids in Issawiyya, Silwan, and Jabal Mukabir. Throughout several other East Jerusalem neighborhoods, Israeli forces clash with Palestinians throwing stones and protesting the recent access restrictions at Haram al-Sharif, injuring several Palestinians and arresting 11. In the West Bank, IDF troops violently disperse Palestinians protesting restrictions in East Jerusalem and at Haram al-Sharif, injuring a 14-year-old Palestinian with live ammunition nr. Qalqilya. In Gaza, the IDF bars a Palestinian journalist from passing through the Erez border crossing, despite the fact that he was issued a permit on 6/20. Ramallah, confiscating property and arresting 3 Palestinians. Israeli settlers spray price-tag graffiti on walls in Tiberius; assault Palestinians in c. Hebron; cut down 70 olive trees nr. Nablus. In East Jerusalem, a Palestinian stabs and seriously injures an Israeli border policeman nr. Damascus Gate of the Old City. The policeman then shoots the Palestinian man multiple times, leaving him in critical condition. Israeli forces consequently raid the Palestinian man’s home nr. Hebron. Israeli forces later clash with Palestinians gathering nr. Damascus Gate and separately with Palestinians leaving Haram al-Sharif; 4 Palestinians are injured. In response to the 6/19 shooting nr. Ramallah and today’s stabbing in East Jerusalem, Israeli PM Netanyahu and DM Ya’alon annul the 6/16 announcement permitting 500 Palestinians to fly abroad via Ben Gurion Airport during Ramadan. Additionally, they instruct the Defense Ministry to revoke the work permits of all Palestinian residents of the village nr. In Ramallah, French FM Fabius meets with PA pres. Abbas to discuss the French initiative to restart the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations, including a French-drafted UNSC res. Fabius then meets with Netanyahu in Israel to discuss the same issues. Iranian parliamentarians approve amendments to the bill introduced on 6/17 to increase oversight on implementation of any agreement made with the P5+1. The amendments shift oversight responsibilities, and the power to end the deal, from parliamentarians to the Supreme National Security Council, which is chaired by Pres. Hassan Rouhani and controlled by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. The bill must still be approved by the parliament and ratified by the Khamenei-controlled Guardian Council to become law. UN Secy.-Gen. Ban publishes a summary of a report compiled by an official UN board of inquiry on OPE. The PA Finance Ministry confirms that Israel’s freeze on tax revenue transfers to the PA is continuing for a 3d mo. and that, as a result, the PA can only afford to pay many of its employees 60% of their salaries. The Palestinian Central Council (PCC) meets in Ramallah to discuss several issues, including the PA’s economic crisis and the possibility of suspending or cutting security coordination with Israel. At the request of PA Pres. Abbas, they review the interim agreements made with Israel in the 1990s that created the PA. Abbas says that he recently turned down an Israeli offer to unfreeze the transfers of tax revenues in exchange for the Palestinians abandoning their efforts at the International Criminal Court (ICC). The day after Israeli PM Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) says that Congress should not pass new sanctions-related legislation until the negotiators have had a chance to produce an agreement.
