The Israeli supreme court ruled in favor of the settlement group Ateret Cohanim’s acquisition of 3 buildings in the Christian quarter of the Old City in East Jerusalem belonging to the Greek Orthodox church. The ruling ended a 14-year-long legal battle that started when church officials sold the buildings without the knowledge of the larger body of church officials, leading to the ousting of the then patriarch. The International Atomic Energy Agency chief Yukiya Amano said that Iran had increased its uranium enrichment. The Palestinian driver reports the incident later in the day to Palestinian police as an accident. Later, another Palestinian driver rams an Israeli soldier and a settler outside a settlement nr. Jerusalem, injuring both. IDF troops shoot and kill the Palestinian when he exits his vehicle, allegedly holding a knife. After the incident, the IDF raids the Palestinian driver’s home nr. A Palestinian is killed in disputed circumstances in ‘Askar r.c. nr. Nablus, as Palestinian security forces conduct a raid to apprehend a different, wanted man. Local residents insist that Amjad Odeh was shot in the head by a gunshot from a Preventive Security Force mbr., but Nablus governor Jibrin al-Bakri suggests that the victim may have been shot by the wanted gunmen in an example of accidental crossfire. Following Odeh’s death, many Palestinians attack security forces, and residents of al-Fara‘a r.c. shut the main Nablus-Tubas road with burning tires. The U.S. and French governments say they are in a position for a strike on Syria, while the Arab League adds its support for punitive action and blames the Asad regime for the recent chemical weapons attack.
