Israel releases its annual poverty report, showing that the poverty rate has stayed steady at 17.7% for the past 5 yrs. The mayor of the Jewish town of Upper Nazareth announces plans to enlarge its jurisdiction by 3,700 dunams for construction of new neighborhoods, shopping centers. Last wk., Upper Nazareth authorities bulldozed 2,000 old growth olive trees on confiscated `Ayn Mahil land for a new Jewish neighborhood that will be linked to Upper Nazareth.
