Occupied Palestine/Israel: Al-Haq calls for international intervention, protests Israel's "uncensured and indiscriminate use of live ammunition" against Palestinian demonstrators in occupied territories [LAT 12/14]. No one is injured by Molotov cocktails thrown into courtyard of U.S. consulate in E. Jerusalem; more than 20 Palestinians are arrested in connection with the incident. Israeli cabinet discusses violence in occupied territories [WP 12/14; FJ 12/20]. Israel orders 1-month closure of Graduate Association's high school in Hebron because of recent protests [FJ 12/20]. Lydda military court sentences 4th Palestinian captured in international waters aboard the Maria R. to 6 years imprisonment on charges of Fateh membership. [FJ 12/20].

Occupied Palestine/Israel: At least 5 Palestinians are wounded when Israeli forces open fire on rock-throwing demonstrators in several clashes in Gaza Strip. Palestine Press Service reports 24 wounded in Gaza violence [CSM, WP 12/14]. In Hebron, 2 Islamic College students are wounded after bus-stoning incident. Israel reports 6 soldiers wounded in the clashes [LAT, NYT 12/14]. Demonstrations are reported in Jerusalem. Commercial strike is observed in Nablus. Curfew is imposed on 'Askar and Balatah refugee camps after demonstrations, clashes with Israeli soldiers [FJ 12/20].

Occupied Palestine/Israel: Israeli cabinet votes to implement uniform university tuition rate, abandoning controversial 2-tier plan [LAT 6/29]. Alati Mahmud Khalifah, resident of Bethlehem-district's 'Ubaydiyyah village, is killed and 6 other villagers wounded when 2 landbrokers, escorted by bodyguards and Israeli soldiers, open fire on landowners disputing landbrokers' claims to own 6,000 dunams of village land [NYT 6/29; FJ 7/5]. Israeli Prof. Ehud Kidar announces new peace plan supported by Israeli and Palestinian scholars proposing 1 state with 2 governments and a counseling body [FJ 7/5]. In trial of alNajah University's Dr. Sa'ib 'Iriqat for incitement, Israeli prosecutor agues that W. Bank and Gaza residents do not have right of freedom of expression [FJ 7/5]. Sulayman Da'ud Hulaysi, brother of 2 Palestinians involved in October 1986 attack on Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem, is sentenced by Lydda military court to 6 years imprisonment ad4 years suspended on weapons charges [FJ 7/5].

Lydda military court hands down 20-year sentence in case of Shakir Mustafa 'Ayyash, convicted of planting bombs in Tel Aviv in 1979 [FJ 4/19]. Jerusalem's al-Ibrahimiyyah College and Gaza's Islamic U. suspend classes until 4/18 to protest harassment of universities in occupied territories [FJ 4/19]. Bethlehem U. ordered closed until 4/22 [FJ 4/19].

Arab World: Salah Khalaf (Abu lyad) announces PLO decision to abandon pact with Jordan and instead form wider accord with Arab governments [NYT 4/15]. Egypt's Pres. Mubarak says PLO decision to cancel Amman accords reduces chance for international Middle East peace conference in 1987 [SG 4/16].
