A total of 3 Palestinians are killed by Israeli forces in clashes and small-scale violent incidents across the oPt. In the West Bank, IDF troops shoot and kill a Palestinian driver in Silwad after he allegedly attempts to ram his car into them during clashes between the IDF and Palestinians. IDF troops shoot and injure 2 other Palestinians in alleged car-ramming attempts in Silwan and Ramallah, arresting the suspect in the latter event. The IDF violently disperses Palestinians, Israelis, and international activists at Friday demonstrations against the Israeli occupation in 4 villages nr. Ramallah, 1 each nr. Hebron and Nablus, and 4 areas along Gaza’s border; 2 Palestinians are killed e. of Ramallah and nr. Khan Yunis, respectively, and 37 Palestinians and 2 Israeli soldiers are injured. Meanwhile, the IDF conducts raids and house searches in and around Jenin and Hebron, arresting 1 Palestinian and issuing arrest summons to 2; patrols in 1 village and al-Fawar r.c. nr. Both the ongoing wave of small-scale violence and the Israeli crackdown in the oPt continue. Israeli border police shoot and kill a young Palestinian woman nr. al-Ibrahimi Mosque in c. Hebron after an Israeli officer says he sees her with a knife. Palestinian witnesses dispute the claim. Israeli soldiers assault a Palestinian driver at a checkpoint nr. Nablus. Palestinians throw stones at an Israeli settler’s car nr. Jerusalem, then 1 of them stabs the settler when he exits his car, causing moderate injuries. An Israeli settler shoots and seriously injures a Palestinian youth nr. the Gush Etzion settlement bloc nr. Hebron. After the incident, IDF troops conduct raids in a nearby village, sparking clashes with stone-throwers and injuring 7 Palestinians. A Palestinian stabs and moderately injures an Israeli settler outside the Ariel settlement. Other Israeli settlers then attack and stab the Palestinian and, hours later, the IDF raids a nearby village, arresting the injured Palestinian. Across the West Bank, the IDF conducts patrols, late-night raids, and house searches, arresting 17 Palestinians. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces conduct late-night raids in Issawiyya, accidentally detonating an improvised explosive device; 1 border police officer is injured in the blast. At the Palestinian embassy in Cairo, PLO secy.-gen. Erakat announces that the PLO and the Arab League are preparing a proposal for the UNSC to set a deadline on ending the Israeli occupation. (NYT 10/25; HA, TOI 10/26)

Further exacerbating Palestinian fears over the Judaization of Jerusalem, the Israeli press reports that PM Netanyahu recently proposed at a cabinet meeting the possibility of revoking the residency status of around 80,000 Palestinians in East Jerusalem who live in neighborhoods on the West Bank side of the separation wall, such as Shu‘fat r.c. According to sources present at the meetings, the cabinet did not discuss the proposal, and Netanyahu called for a separate meeting to discuss it further. Stabbing attacks continue in the West Bank today. Private Israeli settlement security guards shoot and kill a Palestinian youth at a checkpoint nr. Jenin after he allegedly stabs and injures an Israeli soldier. The Vatican signs a treaty officially recognizing the State of Palestine. Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Vatican’s equivalent to a FM, says that he hopes the treaty might “in some way be a stimulus to bringing a definitive end to the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.” (The Vatican will deny Israel’s requests to review the treaty.) PFA chair Rajoub amends the PFA’s res. to suspend Israel from international soccer in the hours before a scheduled vote on the measure at the annual FIFA congress in Zurich. Instead, the delegates approve, 165–18, a modified measure establishing a comm. to monitor movement restrictions on Palestinian soccer players, Israeli racism, and the status of teams based in Israeli settlements. A group of Palestinians in Israeli prisons cancels its plans, announced on 3/9, to begin a series of demonstrations on 3/10 in protest of the poor conditions. According to Al Jazeera, the move comes after the group makes a preliminary deal with the Israel Prison Service (IPS), allowing for more frequent family visits, but an IPS official will refute the report on 3/11. The Israeli govt. continues freezing transfers of tax revenues to the PA in response to the Palestinians’ accession to the ICC. Following the 1/2 freeze of NIS 500 m. (around $127.6 m.) of revenues collected in 12/2014, Israel collected around $100 m. worth of revenues in 1/2015. Armed clashes take place in Tripoli as Syria’s civil war continues to spill over into Lebanon, with gunmen loyal to opposing sides in the Syrian fighting clashing in the city. The fighting has killed 6 people and wounded around 60 since the beginning of the week, sparked by the deaths on 11/30 of over a dozen Lebanese fighting with the rebels. (AP 12/5)

As many as 35 unidentified gunmen attack an Egyptian checkpoint near the Rafah border, fatally shooting 16 Egyptian security officers and wounding 3. Some of the assailants then steal 2 armored personnel carriers, which they pack with explosives and drive toward Kerem Shalom commercial crossing, where the borders of Egypt, Israel, and Gaza meet.
