Alleged stabbing attacks continue across the oPt. Israeli soldiers detain a Palestinian youth in c. Hebron when a knife is found on her person, and arrest another Palestinian youth after she allegedly attempts to stab Israeli police officers in Issawiyya, East Jerusalem. Israeli forces also assault and arrest 4 Palestinian youths nr. the Old City of Jerusalem. Meanwhile, IDF troops violently disperse Palestinians, Israelis, and international activists at Friday demonstrations against Israel’s occupation, separation wall, and settlement in 4 villages nr. Ramallah (Bil‘in, Ni‘lin, Silwad, and Nabi Salih), Kafr Qaddum nr. Qalqilya, and 2 areas along Gaza’s border; 5 Palestinians are injured. Israeli authorities keep the Erez border crossing closed for the 3d of 3 planned days and maintain the closure of the West Bank, as decided on 3/22. In the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces also conduct a limited incursion nr. Khan Yunis to level land. In response, Palestinians from Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the military wing of the PFLP, fire 2 mortar shells at the tanks, causing no damage or injuries. Separately, the military wing of the DFLP, the National Resistance Brigades, claims responsibility for firing 2 mortar shells at an Israeli military position nr. Dayr al-Balah. Later, 3 Palestinians are wounded by an Israeli air strike nr. Khan Yunis, and 1 child sustains minor injuries. An Israeli air strike also targets a training site for Islamic Jihad’s al-Quds Brigades nr. Rafah, causing no injuries. In the West Bank, the IDF shoots and injures 3 Palestinians in Dahaysha r.c. in Bethlehem during clashes sparked by an arrest raid. Overnight, the IDF sends tanks and troops, backed by air support, into Gaza City and Khan Yunis in a major day-long ground offensive targeting primarily Hamas and Islamic Jihad, but also including the AMB, arresting 10s of Palestinians, bulldozing 1 Palestinian home and 70 dunams of land, and leaving at least 13 Palestinians (including at least 4 gunmen and 6 civilians, including a 10-yr.-old boy) dead, more than 50 Palestinians and at least 2 IDF soldiers wounded; Fatah and Hamas gunmen fight side-by-side against the IDF, using small arms and antitank weapons.
